This much...

Just thought I'd share an illustration I heard a long time ago.

Imagine that you are talking to Jesus face to face. He's right there in front of you. You ask him, "Jesus, how much do you love me?" With a 3 cm gap between your thumb and index finger you say "This much?" Jesus answers "No, much more". You ask again, "This much?" with your fingers spread as wide as possible. Again Jesus answers, "No, much more". You're getting a bit impatient and you really just want to know so you ask, "Then Jesus, how much DO you love me?" Jesus looks into your eyes, stretches out His arms and says, "This much". He then bows His head and dies, hanging on a cross.

What a beautiful day!

Yesterday I went for a walk around my neighborhood and took these pictures. It was such a beautiful day with a clear blue sky and practically no wind at all. (The "no-wind-part" doesn't happen all that often in Iceland.)

TCK is just what I am!

I'm sure some of you may be familiar with the term "Third Culture Kid" or TCK. That is just what I am and I know a lot of my friends both here and abroad can identify with me. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about let me just post something I found online that describes exactly what it means to be a TCK.

"A third culture kid is a person who has spent a significant part of his or her developmental years outside their parents' culture. The third culture kid builds relationships to all the cultures, while not having full ownership in any. Although elements from each culture are assimilated into the third culture kid's life experience, the sense of belonging is in relationship to others of the same background, other TCKs."

You know you're a TCK when:
- "Where are you from?" has more than one reasonable answer.
- You flew before you could walk.
- You speak two languages (or more), but can’t spell in either.
- You feel odd being in the ethnic majority.
- You go into culture shock upon returning to your "home" country.
- Your life story uses the phrase "Then we moved to..." three (or four, or five...) times.
- The best word for something is the word you learned first, regardless of the language.
- You own personal appliances with 3 types of plugs.
- When asked a question in a certain language, you've absentmindedly respond in a different one.
- You have the urge to move to a new country every couple of years.
- You have friends from 29 different countries.
- You sort your friends by continent.
- You have a time zone map next to your telephone.
- You realize what a small world it is, after all.

I'm in over my head

Today I'm in over my head in Radiology... but that is not the only thing, I'm also in over my head in something else :)

"Over My Head"

I tried to figure it out
Time and time again and time again
I guess there's just some things I'll never understand
'Cause Your ways aren't our ways
But deep down in my soul, down in my soul
There is one thing I know that I know

I'm in over my head
Right where I wanna be
I'm so lost within Your love
The love that always covers me
So high, so deep, so wide
A strong and cleansing tide
My soul has found a place to rest
I'm in over my head

I've been holding on
Now I'm letting go, just letting go
Gonna let Your love carry me away
I don't know where I'm going
But I'm surrounded by the truth
And I can feel the current pulling me
Deeper into You

I'm in over my head
Right where I wanna be
I'm so lost within Your love
The love that always covers me
So high, so deep, so wide
A strong and cleansing tide
My soul has found a place to rest
I'm in over my head

You see me for who I am
You did reach out Your hand
You made me understand
That Your love has always covered me

I realize this post can have a dual meaning, haha! It just depends on the point of view you see it from, and I am just going to leave it at that! ;oP
