Time to pick up on the blogging!

I've not been the greatest blogger these past few weeks... But now that my finals are over and summer vacation is finally here I think it's time to pick up on the blogging :) The past two days have been LAZY to say the least. It's so werid to have all the time in the world and nothing that I HAVE to do. I can do whatever I like... and half of the time I feel restless, haha. My room is finally clean. The books are in the right places and all the papers are in binders. Everything is in order. AHHHH! This feels great.

In 6 days I start working at the hospital. I'll be working in the paternity. I think it's going to be so fun. I've seen 4 deliveries before, while I was in Ethiopia. But ofcourse the circumstances there were very different from here so this is going to be a totally different experience. So yea, I'll most likely get to see a few deliveries and possibly some C sections. Will be very interesting. I just have to say this: A child being born is the greatest miracle there is ;) No doubt about that!
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Some interesting words....

"When you are arguing against Him you are arguing against the very power that makes you able to argue at all."

"Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important."

"God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world."

"Other than heaven, the only place where one's heart is completely safe from the dangers of love is hell."

"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."

-- C.S. Lewis

Fun at the hospital

This week at the hospital is really great. We follow the doctors around and they explain what's going on and what is wrong with the patients. I am learning a lot and having such a good time. I have to say the doctors we've been with are really great. The reception we've got is very nice and they are very positive and willing to teach us. Makes it even more fun. I hate when I feel like I'm only in the way. Luckily it hasn't been like that this week at all :)

Yesterday Kristín and I got to watch while one of the doctors did a bone marrow biopsy. Man the needle she used was HUGE! It was interesting to see how it's done. On the pics below you can see the size of the needle and where the bone marrow is taken from...

The bigger one is the one the doctor used. (I think the smaller one is for biopsies from the sternum.)

Specimen taken from the hip right beneath the lower back (Christa Iliaca).

Yup, med school is great! :)

Ahhhhh... one down one to go!

YESSSS! Only one final left and summer is officially here :) The final yesterday went well and next week my classmates and I will be in different hospitals observing how things work. Should be very fun and exciting!

Well, well... I think I'm gonna go watch a movie or something...

What do you call him?

Some called Him a prophet
Some called Him a saint
Some couldn't believe their eyes
Or the words He had to say
Some called Him crazy
Some thought He was strange
But I have felt His touch
And I'll never be the same

I call Him love
I call Him mercy
I called Him out of my darkness and pain
And He answered my need
I call Him love
I call Him healing
He is the One who has filled me with hope
And restored life to me
I call Him love

Some call Him a mystery
A power without a face
Some feel He's a distant Father
That they could not embrace
But I have felt His touch
And I'll never be the same

I call Him love
I call Him mercy
I called Him out of my darkness and pain
And He answered my need
I call Him love
I call Him healing
He is the One who has filled me with hope
And restored life to me
I call Him love

Cause He reached out to me
I'm overwhelmed by the grace I have received

Suffering from severe lack of motivation....

I wish there were some kind of motivation pills I could take! I am having the worst time studying... Maybe because the last few days have been SO beautiful and I just want to be outside in the sun relaxing. Well, well... what can I do? I just have to keep at it! Kick myself in the butt and get motivated NOW! :) Alright! I better hit the books a gain... must do my best, study as much as I can... Immunology here I come! Let's dive into this pool of knowledge! :oP

Today is a beautiful day!!!

Yup yup! It is so nice outside. It feels like summer :) And to add to the joy I just finished doing a presentation at school... a pretty big deal. I think it went ok. I gave a short presentation of how the white blood cells of the body make it to the right places. So here are a few white cells for you :oP

Working hard to get strong...

Yep, it's working.... ready to go out and kill some germs and infected cells!
MAN! Those cells were supposed to move and jump and stuff, but they don't! I don't know how to fix that... too bad.

O, my brain is officially fried! Not enough sleep and way too much reading and studying in the last few days... My brain is taking time off from thinking for the rest of the day.......

Ashes to Beauty

At The Foot Of The Cross (Ashes To Beauty)
Kathryn Scott

At the foot of the cross where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me your love through the judgement You received
And You've won my heart
Yes, You've won my heart, now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty and wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy, I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

At the foot of the cross where I am made complete
You have given me life through the death You bore for me
And You've won my heart
Yes, You've won my heart, now I can

And You've won my heart
Yes, You've won my heart, now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty and wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy, I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross
Trade these ashes in for beauty and wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy, I lay every burden down
I lay every burden down, I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." -Matthew 11

All I've got to say is this...

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
-Romans 12:12

Such a great verse of the day :)
